Last Hurrah

Well I'm finally about ready to graduate, I only have a few day left of classes. I'm really excited, but i'm extremely nervous because I really have no idea what to expect next year. I know I'm doing whats right for me by going to DWU for teaching, but I really just wish that I knew really expect next year.  These last two years here have really changed me as a person. I changed from a very shy person who never really talked or even smiled to a person who never shuts up and always is laughing to the point where I get told to shut up in class alot of the time. In my final days of school, I plan to be my normal self which means Bailey, Mataya, and I won't shut up during business english, we'll be laughing most of the time, and of course I will be arguing with Taylor, Zach, and most of all Logan. Those 5 are the people I'm going to miss the most out of my class. I have never laughed so much in my life and I can thank the 5 of them for that. I couldn't ask for a better class to go through the two best years of my life. I really want to thank them for welcoming me into their class last year and for really making me comfortable. I'll never forget any of them!

Katniss begins cutting the branch with her blade. The trackerjacker's don't do anything because Katniss thinks the smoke from the fire knocked them out. After awhile she stops. She continues after awhile and the trackerjackers are awake and buzzing around which makes things alot more difficult. After getting stung more than once, the branch finally breaks and falls down and busts open. The careers quickly realize what is happening and try and run away everyone gets away but Glimmer who trips and falls and is then stung numerous times. The venom is going through Katniss also and she falls out of the tree she quickly goes to Glimmer to get the bow and arrow.

Katniss desperatly needs medicine to heal up her burn, and thankfully she got it! Haymitch got her a sponsor which got her the lifesaver. Soon after she applies it to the burn it begins to feel alot better and she puts the remainder in her bag. All of the careers are sleeping and all of a sudden Katniss is drawn to something in the trees, it's Rue the contestant from district 11. She points Katniss's attention towards a nest thats either full with regular wasps or man made trackerjackers. Rue does actions to let Katniss know she should cut the branch off so it will fall onto the careers. Katniss agrees because she knows it's the only way that she will get down alive.

In the morning Katniss wakes up to the trees around her on fire. She quickly rounds all of her things up and gets out of the tree. She then begins to try and get away from the fire, but the smoke is so thick it's hard for her to get a move on. Katniss know that this was of natural causes, the capitol made this happen for alittle more excitement. While Katniss is walking fire comes shooting from many directions. She never knows when she's safe and one got her in the leg. The pain she is feeling is terrible! She finally gets out of the fire and tries to tend to her wound but its no use, she knows only medicine will help her. All of a sudden the careers find her. Katniss hurrys away, but they see her. She quickly finds the best tree and climbs it. She's so good at climbing no one else can get up to her. Peeta suggests they just wait for her to come down and the rest agrees.

While Katniss is up in the tree she notices that someone close to her has started a fire. Soon later she hears screams and then all of a sudden she hears the sound of the cannon which tells the tributes some one has died. She then looks and sees the careers coming towards her along with Peeta. A feeling of disguist goes threw her when she sees Peeta. The careers soon make it very apparent that they are looking for Katniss and Peeta says that he saw her going this way. Katniss soon knows she is the main target.

Katniss begins walking great amount of distances and she really becomes dehydrated to the point she doesn't think she'll be able to make it much longer. She asks aloud to Haymitch to send her some water and when he doesn't she knows that must be a hint to keep looking because she's close to it. Haymitch is right, she quickly drinks alot of it and settles herself in a tree for the night.

The day of the games have begun. Haymitch gives Katniss one more bit of advice by telling her not to go into the cornucopia for weapons, that it's just a bloodbath. The last person she sees before entering the arena is Cinna who says if he could vote he'd vote for her. Once Katniss is in the arena she has to wait a minute before she can leave her pedistal. In that moment her thoughts go back and forth between if she should listen to Haymitch's advice or not. This got into her head because she saw a bow. She decides not to when she looks up and Peeta is shaking his head. She runs for a bag though which she finds alot of useful material. The next thing on her list is to find water, but thats not as easy as it sounds.

Before entering the games all the contestants must do a final interview. Katniss and her mentors realize that she isn't one for making the people like her for words but they try their best to get her so that she's as good as its gonna get. She does as good as job as any by twirling in her dress to show more flames. Katniss can't even come close to the greatness of an interview that Peeta has. He confesses his love for Katniss to the whole audience. Katniss is in shock and then she gets mad. Once they get to there living areas she throws him to the ground hurting Peeta's hands saying that he made her look weak but everyone disagreed and said it made her look disiarable. Katniss apologizes but still realizes she can't start liking Peeta as a friend, because she knows she'll have to kill him soon enough in the arena.

From where my last post left off Peeta and Katniss begin trying to get sponsors. This starts by them meeting their stylists and deciding what they're going to wear for their first appearance. The two of them wear matching black suits that will be lit to look like they are on fire. Everything goes as planned and no one is injured. I would be so scared, I don't think I could ever do that. This gets many people very interested in Peeta and Katniss. From there they start their training and they are strictly instructed to not show off their talents so Katniss has to stay away from a bow and arrows where as Peeta can't show how strong he is. They instructed to do everything together. They then perform their skills to judges and this is where they show off what they are good at and given a number between 1-12. Peeta recieves an 8 and Katniss recieves the highest score of all by getting a 11. She gets this from showing off her skills when getting agrivated with the judges for not paying attention and shooting at the area where they are located at and hitting an apple in a pigs mouth. 

Catniss Everdeen is the older sister of Prim, those two live alone with their mother because their father died a few years ago due to a mining accident. They live in a place called Panem which is divided into 12 districts and they live in the 12th one. Catniss awakes the day of the reaping (where a girl and boy is chosen to go to the hunger games which is where they fight to death) and goes to the woods. This is one of the only places she is comfortable. Catniss soon finds Gale one of her friends and they go out and get food. They talk about how they should just run away, that it'd be so much easier. Catniss comes back to reality and realizes that they can't do that. After they gather all of what they recieved they go and trade it at the market. Once thats done they return home where Catniss finds a very nervous Prim. She gets ready for the reaping and they take off. Catniss isn't worried that Prim's name will be chosen since her names only in it once, but somehow Prim's name is drawn. Catniss then decides to volunteer herself as tribute. The boy who is chosen is Peeta Mellark. Catniss has memories of him coming to her head of him giving throwing her bread one day when she was about ready to starve to death. Catniss and Peeta get an hour to say goodbye and Catniss visitors are her mother and Prim, Peeta's father the baker, the mayors daughter, and Gale. Catniss gives strict instructions to Prim and her mother on what to do. Gale and the baker promise to take care of Prim. The mayors daughter gives Catniss a pin of a mockingjay to remind her of her district. Later they go off to the train station where they take off for the capitol. Peeta and Catniss try talking to their mentor Haymitch but he's to drunk to talk till the next morning when they make a deal that he will stay sober enough to be a mentor because they have fight in them.

Presentation Review

Haley- You really let me know whats the right way in walking your dog. Maybe get a little more into detail about what everything is.

Bailey- Very good, wonderful details! Sound more excited!

Sarah-Good character. Shoes should be on, stand on two legs, and be more organized

Casey- Don't read right off what you wrote. Good ideas.

Taylor-You got alittle too in detail about somethings, some of what you put in there you could take out because it didn't do much for your presentation. Otherwise, good details.

Taya-You should probably stand up when your presenting so the attention is on you. Also make your text bigger so that we can read it. Alot of good details!

Logan- Know how to run powerpoint and don't bs as much as you do, we can't tell what you actually know and what you don't.  You kept us very informed about stuff in the sky

Zach- Don't read off your screen. You had very good details by telling us why you need the money.

Trip to Minnesota

My trip to the cities couldn't have been better! We left Delmont on Thursday for Sioux Falls because my dad wanted to take care of some business. We then stayed at a hotel and left Friday around 9. I was extremely excited, I always get that way when we are going to a game, usually I don't sleep but I figured since I was driving the whole entire way the next day I should get some sleep. It was a long drive from Sioux Falls but I did it and I drove in the cities even though I was extremely nervous. We made it safe and sound and arrived at about 2. We just talked for awhile before I went and got ready for the game. When I came up with my Rondo jersey on my cousin just shook his head and couldn't believe that I was a Celtics fan! The Target Center was starting to get packed, since the game was a sell out. We had really good tickets and I'm very thankful to have the cousins that I do so I can go to games like that. The Celtics won and my favorite player Rajon Rondo had 17 assists. Beast! By far I think that was the greatest game I have ever been to, so that beats all the Twins games I've been to. Vanilla Ice was our half time show. Friday we were with my cousin Dave. He took us to the aquarium in the Mall of America. I love that place and we haven't been there in a very long time. After the aquarium we walked around the mall and that was my hell on earth. I hate shopping, big places, and alot of people so that was not fun. Thank God we weren't there long! We then went to the Como Zoo. It was close to closing time so we didn't get to see alot of the animals but it was still a fun time. Later on that night we went out to eat at this place called Jax. It's in downtown Minneapolis and is one of the oldest fancy resturants in the cities. That was an experience. Everything was around $40 dollars. I ordered a ribeye. I was uncomfortable because i'm not used to places like that but it was still fun. We then went back to my cousin Dans place and talked for awhile. The next morning we left around 10 and I drove from their house to Albert Lea.

Well I think i'm going to stop reading The Outsiders, it's one of my favorite books but since i've read it so many times I'm really not feeling it. I'm gonna start reading The Hunger Games, I'm going to get the first book today when we stop in Sioux Falls.

Government sucks! It is possibly one of the worst classes I have ever taken. It's just so boring that I don't care whats really going on. I would so much rather take a history class, with taking that there's some sort of excitement!

Yay! I'm not failing English IV anymore! Lets hope that never happens again and I keep making my grade better. It is pretty much the worst feeling in the world when you look at your grades and you have an "F.

When Two-Bit and Pony were walking home Pony got this strange feeling in the stomach. It was the same feeling he got the night he ran away because Darry yelled at him. He felt as if something was going to happen that night that no one could stop. I think I've had that feeling before, it's just like you know something bad is going to happen before it actually does.

T.S Eliot

T.S. Elliot stated at the end of the poem "when the wind blows the water white and black." This gave me a mental picture of what was going on. Images from being at the river when it is super windy and looking at the water and it just looks like a terrible gray color and seeing the whitecaps in the water. Those few words just made me think of a stormy day out on the river.

Well last week I was gone for the first few days because I was sick. I'm really wishing I wouldn't have gotten sick! While being gone I forgot about a packerpress draft article that was due on Monday and my grade is suffering because I forgot. I really am hoping I will get more grades in there to bring that grade up in English IV. I really hope I won't have to miss anymore days of school!

I cannot wait for contest to be over next week. Preparing for it has just been a constant struggle and this final week is the first time that I felt like that we actually know the songs and can sing them pretty well. Womens choir I realy am not sure how we're going to do, we do one of our songs really well and then the other one is not so pretty. I hope we can pull threw and get a good rating!

In my last post I said that Darry would be a soc if it wasn't for the gang and I just find that really interesting. Here the socs come after the greasers because of there social class and the where they are living but they would allow a "greaser" into their group just because he was good at sports. I would think that no matter how good Darry was at football he would be hated by the socs and there would be no way they'd be friends.

The Outsiders

Pony and Two Bit started talking about Darry and how much stricter he was than Pony's parents before they passed away. Then they started saying that the only thing keeping Darry from being a Soc was the gang. Even though Darry didn't have that much money or lived in a big fancy house he was one of the most popular people when he was in school. Darry was an amazing football player and got alot of scholorships for it also but when the time came he had to stay home and take care of the Pony and Soda once their parents died so they all could stay together.

Well I just found out that you are going to be gone on Thursday, lets just hope that Business English goes alot better this time when you are gone. I hope to God it does

Accounting

Well I'm starting to not completly hate accounting anymore now that we're on this new chapter. Now that we're actually learning something new. I still can't wait till I never have to take another accounting class in my life. Thank God I won't have to take one at DWU!

The Outsiders

The boys decided to take a bus home because Pony didn't feel good. Well I don't blame him for feeling bad at all he just got home from running away the past night along with just getting home from the hospital. I think he should have just stayed home!

The Outsiders

When Pony and Two Bit go to the hospital and ask to see Johnny the nurse freaks out on them and says they can't see him, but then the doctor came and said to let them go in, that it wouldn't hurt anything. That really made it seem like Johnny was very badly injured. When they went in Johnny was laying on his stomach and was motionless until he noticed who was in his room. Johnny asked for Two Bit to go get him Gone With the Wind so Pony could finish reading it to him. It was very hard for Pony to not cry because of how bad Johnny truly was, it scared him to death. The nurse soon came in to tell Johnny his mom was there and wanted to come in. Johnny freaked out saying he hated her and that he did not want to see her. It ended with Johnny passing out. Pony and Two Bit then went to see Dally and he was his usual self. He turned angry when he heard how Johnny was doing and they left.

Government Trip

Yesterday we went to Pierre for out government trip. Let me tell you, it was possibly the most boring thing I have ever been apart of. I think I hate govenment 20X more than I did before. It was just a very long day of nothing that really interested me. I had fun at times, but most of those times came when we weren't doing anything government related. Oh well though, it was only one day!

business english

Well I screwed up, it's as simple as that. I didn't read the directions to our assignment and I just went along with what other people were saying. Lesson learned let me tell you. I'm getting my newsletter done, it just would have been alot easier if we would have gotten it done together as a group right.

Government

I'm kind of excited to go on the government trip even though we're leaving at 6:30, that'll suck! I'm really excited to go with Tripp. I'm not sure why, but I just am. It should be an interesting day!

Well I'm not for sure if I did my adv. comp right. I sure hope so everything looks the way it should but i'm not sure if I did the formatting right. I guess we'll see tomorrow or wednesday.

Government

Well I had a Government test today, I don't really know what to think on it because I was gone for alot of the chapter from being gone to Minnesota and also being sick. I really am not a fan of this class. It's really boring to me. I think i'd rather be stuck in a history class, well more of a World War II class. I don't know why but that war really interests me, I think it always has.

The Outsiders

Two Bit was set up to watch over Pony since he just got back and still was not feeling all that good. They were walking to go see Johnny and Dally in the hospital but stopped to get something to drink. When they were there, the blue mustang with some of the same people from "the night" showed up. One of them wanted to tatalk to Pony and he said that he wasn't going to show up at the fight between the two groups, figured it wouldn't help nothing would change. The convo ended with them kinda being friends.

Englishs

Well by looking at my grades in both English classes, i've realized that I really need to get back on track with blogging. I just don't remember to blog everyday like I should. It's something I really need to do better on so that I can bring my grade up.

English IV

Well I just got done with my final Taming of a Shrew project and I can honestly say that that was the only shakespear play that I didn't mind. I read Romeo and Juliet and Julius Ceasar in Tripp and I hated them both. I think it was because she just read it to us basically and it was extremely boring.

Accounting

Can't stand accounting, it is possibly the worst class ever. I have no idea what I am doing and it's only a reinforcement activity, so i've done all of it before, but everything is the same and I just hate it.

the outsiders

After awhile the reporters left and the boys decided that there was nothing they could do so they decided to go home. Pony fell asleep on the way home to the point that Darry had to carry him in the house. The next morning Pony was the first to wake up so he started making breakfast for all of them. While he was getting stuff in order Steve and Two-Bit showed up. Steve was reading the paper and on the front page it was a picture of Pony, Johnny, and Dally making them out to be heros. The whole paper was about them. What happened with the soc, the fire, and the life that Pony, Soda, and Darry live.

business english

I really hope we have less and less classes that deal with college and where we are going next year. I really hate having to answer the same question over and over and over again through out the class period.

the outsiders

When Pony awoke he was in a moving vehicale and had no idea what happened or where he was going. Once he heard the sirens he thought he was being taken to jail because the police found them but one of the school teachers said that they were taking them to the hospital and said that the 3 of them were heros in his eyes. Pony was ok just a bruised back from Dally hitting him, the reason for the hit was that Pony's back was on fire so he was just helping him out. Dally had some burns along his arms and Johnny was not good at all. He had alot of bad burns and a board fell on his back. Pony was extremely worried for Johnny. Darry and Soda showed up at the hospital and Pony noticed that Darry was crying this finally made Pony realize that Darry did truely care about him! They all hugged and had a good reunion with each other. Reporters decided to come and ask Pony all kinds of questions, from the killing to the fire.

When the boys got back to the church, it was on fire! They instantly noticed that there was a group of children and some adults at on the grounds. Pony and Johnny went and asked what was going on when all of a sudden the lady said that some of the children were missing. Everything got quite and you could hear the childrens screams from inside the church. Pony was running towards the church with Johnny not far behind. Once they got in the church they went into a room and found all the children and quickly threw them out of the window. Pony went out of the church first but quickly got pushed to the ground by Dally. When he hit the ground he passed out but not before he heard Johnny scream and saw Dally go into the building and save him.

accounting

I decided to stay with accounting even though I really don't want to. I big part of the reason i'm in it is because of my parents, that didn't want me to drop it because they thought since I was so interested in going into a DWU that maybe I'd change my mind and go back to Accounting. I still wasn't sold and thought that I would never go back to that thought. Then I changed my mind when it was part of deal for us to go to a Bostin Celtics game in March. I really don't know what to think of it in these first days back because all we are doing is a reinforcement activity is a collaberation of everthing we've already done.
