Sarah's Key-74-78

Julia went and say her Mame who was her great-grandma-in-law. Mame brought up the apartment and how the process of making changes to it was going. That was exactly Julia wanted because she had questions about how they got the apartment. Mame moved into the apartment in late July of 1942, the same time that the round up happened. She said that it was so easy to get a house because of the round up. Mame got mad when asked why they took the house if they knew that someone didn't want to sell the house. She said "we knew nothing, nothing at all!" What really hit me in this chapter was that Julia said that Mame had alzheimers. My grandma has it, she isn't to the point where she can't remember who I am and I hope to God that that never happens.

Sarah's Key 70-73

Sarah wondered where her father was, she had absoletly no clue where he was at. It seemed things only got worse. There were rumors going around saying that the women and children were going to be seperated and that the women would be sent to a different camp to start work. This soon became the truth not just a rumor. Before they seperated the children and the mothers they took small groups into a shed and told them to lay down all the jewlery and money they had. Sarah thought to herself what more can they do to us. What this girl had gone threw in a matter of weeks is terrible. I can't even imagine going threw that much pain and suffering in my whole life and Sarah has the thought that this is only going to get worse.

English IV

If this class is going to teach me anything it's that I procrastinate alot. I never really thought I did, but I am now starting to see that I do. I do end up getting my stuff done, it's just that I am very stressed out doing it. I procrastinated with a Packer Press article and then a big presentation on Canterbury Tales. I'm really not a big fan of some of the things we do in English IV, but I'm glad I'm in it because I would rather figure all this stuff out now than next year in college.

My Product

The Cell Finder is the best thing that has come yet! It finds anything that you have lost. All you have to do is type in what is lost and then press search. It will take a few moments and then it will have a GPS Navigation System telling you where you need to go, which will include telling you your exact movements.

10/19/11 Accounting

Right now we are on the chapter were we learn how to do pay rolls. I am enjoying this chapter. I love how on a balance sheet things just equal each other. I don't know why but when there is a set way of doing something and you can see it add up its so much better. I hate when there's many ways to do something and you have to decide which way you want to go. I think thats one of the biggest reasons why I love accounting so much!

10/13/11 Personal Finance

Well this stock market game I really dont get. Some of the people in the class really love doing it and find it fun. Me on the other hand, I have absoletly no clue on what I am doing. I just click stuff and hope for the best. Probably the reason why I'm not doing so well.

Sarah's Key-Pages 64-69

Once Sarah got off the train she had hope, the air smelt fresh and the sky was clear. This was maybe the worst part of reading this so book so far. Here she thinks that the stadium was the worst part and then it just keeps getting worse. It's like she doesn't have anything to be hopeful for because it just won't come true. They walked to an area out beyond the trees where there were men with guns and a border of barbed wire. Once they got in the locked in area the guards began to shout orders that the women and children go to the sheds on the right and the men go to the sheds on the left. This made her even more afraid because her dad wasn't there to comfort her. If I was taken away from my dad I don't know what I would do, he's always the one that can make me feel alot better about a situation and if he was just forced away from me I don't think I could handle it.  She couldn't sleep that night in the shed and she knew that if she would even try to get out side the guards would yell at her or shoot her. For a 10 year old to have to go threw this is terrible!
Julia and Bamber went to go see the women that the waiter had sent her to. The lady was 95 years old and she claims that no one knew what was going on at the time. When all the people went into the stadium they thought they were going to be treated just fine, but that quickly changed when they saw all the people start walking to the buses. The lady claimed that it made her sick that it was going on right by her and she had absoletly no idea. She claims that the faces of the children was the worst part. If I was in that situtation I would agree, just to see that said looks on a normal happy face would haunt me for the rest of my life.

Sarah's Key-Pages 49-63

Julia continued spending time with her friends and her new acquaintance Guillaume. She didn't want to bring up the round up any more than she already had, but she was quickly surprised that Guillaume brought it up himself explaining that his Grandmother was apart of it and that she wouldn't talk about it anymore, but she had told him everything that he needed to know. I don't blame her, if I went threw something as tragic as that I don't think I could go and tell people what it was like every time they asked. Its just like opening a sore over and over again. Julia later went home and wanted to talk about the information she got with Bertrand that quickly didnt happen because Bertrand thought that this article was the biggest waste of time. That makes me mad, it's like he doesn't even care what the others of his country went threw. The next day Julia went to the site of the round up with Bamber who was going to take pictures of the place. They could barely get any pictures of it because they were building government offices where it was. They found a plaque saying what happened at the spot. At least they have something there to remember what happened to all those people! Afterwards they went to get coffee and they asked the waiter if he knew of anyone that could tell them what happened on that day someone who wasn't jewish who just saw what happened. To there amazement he knew someone.
What had been going on in the stadium was getting to Sarah, she felt ill and weak. A girl that is 10 years old had seen things that she shouldn't have seen at that age, that no one should see. The police told them one morning that they should get there stuff and come to the door. When Sarah saw that they were going to be getting on a train and leaving she freaked out. She knew that she would not be able to get her brother. She yelled at her dad first for not trying to run away and get him, then she yelled at him for not telling her what happened. After she was done she just cried! If something like that doesn't make you sad I don't know what will. To have a little girl going threw that questioning what she did wrong, seeing people laugh at her while she was being taken away from everything she only knew. That is something no one could ever guess what it feels like.

Sarah's Key-Pages 38-48

Sarah was trying to shut out everything that was going on in the stadium. She quickly thought of her friend Armelle, she described her as very brave. When ever they had to go to the bomb shelther in school while herself and the others were scared she put on a brave face. This amazes me, where someone so little can be that brave just to try and help the other kids. Sarah then began to think that maybe if her parents would have told her what was going on that all this would be easier. She began to be very upset with her parents for this. I would be to, when I found out my parents didn't tell me right away that my grandpa passed away I was so mad at them. It's just the fact that they're keeping something so important from you. The next morning the father tried to let the policeman let him run home and bring Sarah's brother back. The policeman quickly said no. Sarah quickly decided that she was going to get her brother out from their hidding place no matter what, no one could stop her. This showed real determination. Julia was still with her friends when one of their friends joined them. They talked about Julia's job and what she all does. That quickly made the conversation go to the roundup and they exchanged different knowledge they have on the subject. I'm glad someone else in this book will talk about it.

Travels With Charley

My favorite character in Steinbeck's Travels with Charlie was John Steinbeck himself. There are many reasons why I chose Steinbeck as my favorite.
One of the reasons is because he goes after what he wants. All his life Steinbeck has wanted to travel and he got it accomplished. Going out and accomplishing his dream when he was at the old age of 60 shows that he had true love for this dream.  I think it is very important when you have a dream for as long as Steinbeck did that you go out and accomplish that dream.
Another reason why Steinbeck is my favorite is because he never really seems like he is scared of anything. There was many times when Steinbeck could have easily just said that he didn’t want to do it anymore and go back home, but he never did that. Not only did he set out to accomplish his dream, he left his family at home even though he knew that he would be gone for a long period of time. I know that Steinbeck brought his dog, Charlie, along but you can’t talk to the dog about stuff and get an answer return like you can with people. Also at the beginning of his trip Steinbeck had to go through a hurricane. If that would have been me I would have just went home and took it as a bad sign.
My favorite place that Steinbeck visited was New York. I guess a big part of the reason why it’s my favorite is because it is an actual place where I have visited myself. When I was reading that part of the book it made memories of what I saw in New York come back to me.  I also really want to go back to New York.

Accounting 10/6/11

We just finished up chapter 2 yesterday in accounting. I hated that chapter. Some of the stuff didn't make sense, but I just wrote it down cause that's what Mr. Weber said to do. I'm glad I at least know how to do the problem or I'd be in alot of trouble fallowing this chapter.

Sarah's Key-Pages 34-37

Julia, who grew up in Massachusetts, never thought she would live in France when she was older. She was very intregued by all the culture in France but she never thought once that she would find someone and marry him and live there for the rest of her life. I understand that, I could never think of myself going to out of the country and staying there for the rest of my life, I cant even imagine living outside of South Dakota, let alone the area I am in now. Julia did find friends in France along with her husband, friends who know her well. Thats why when they were having lunch they could tell something was the matter. Julia said it was nothing, but she soon explained that it was because of the information she was getting on the round up. Something like that would bother me to. Just to not know anything about it and then do research and then once you're done you're knowing so much more. It would be a lot to take in.
